What is National Organic Week?

NOW is a 10 day organic extravaganza, driven by
industry participation and hosted and promoted by
the Centre for Organic & Resource Enterprises
(CORE) in collaboration with Biological Farmers of
Australia (BFA).
Currently in its fourth year, National Organic Week (NOW) provides 10 days of targeted media and locally-staged activities designed to increase awareness of the benefits of organic products and farming production systems, and aims to accelerate the uptake of these in the wider Australian community and environment.
NOW Objectives:
• Increasing consumer demand for, confidence in, and appreciation of organically-grown produce
• Raising public awareness of the vital connection between organic farming methods and genuine global environmental
sustainability
• Increasing knowledge of organic standards and certification logo marks among the public and food supply chain
• Providing information to non-organic farmers on organic and/or biological farming methods
• Raising political awareness at all levels of how sustainable organic farming methods can meet agricultural and
environmental challenges
• Providing media the opportunity to access a wide range of organic activities and information via NOW including
seminars, tastings, launches and other events.
If you’re thinking about going organic there is no better time than NOW - National Organic Week from Sat 1st to Sun 9th Oct.
Accept the NOW Challenge to go organic for one week and be in the draw to win a number of organic prizes!
A survey will be made available from this page shortly where you can submit your stories and experiences from the week.
Prizes include a number of luxury organic hampers and winners will be chosen based on the usefulness of the information provided.
In particular we look forward to hearing what you liked, what you didn't, what you found difficult and what tips you would give to others.
To be part of the survey you don't have to buy everything organic for the week, but you need to have incorporated some organic into your every day diet.
Where to start?
1. Please explore this site for you ranswers to why, where and how to go organic, and
2. ask your questions of others, including nutritionists, using the social media pages accessible via www.organicweek.net.au
