Structure of BFA

BFA consists of several teams which interact to maintain and promote the strict requirements for certification as set out in the Australian Organic Standard as well as representing the interests of its members and actively benefiting the organic industry.

The Board

The BFA is directed by five elected and two appointed Directors who decide upon policy for the benefit of BFA members and whose primary concern is that of the organics industry. The Board is elected annually through votes of its members and announced at the BFA AGM.

Administration

The BFA consists of full-time staff based in Brisbane who implement the directives of the BFA Board.

BFA Subcommittees

The 12 subcommittees are made up of key industry representatives across a range of interests who have a charter of identifying issues and planning actions and outcomes to benefit their relevant sector. These subcommittees channel their concepts, findings and planned outcomes to the Strategy & Development Committee. (See the diagram below.)

The Strategy and Development Committee channels the subcommittees concepts, findings and planned outcomes, into a clear action and outcome report which they present to the BFA Board
